Ex-Volunteer Wins Fire Department Raffle

On thousand tickets were sold for the Miller Place Fire Department Engine Company raffle.

A Port Jefferson Station resident won a 51-inch Samsung Plasma flat screen television in a local fire department raffle drawing July 4.

The Andrew Chereb Engine Company, a company in the Miller Place Fire Department sold 1000 raffle tickets over the course of a few weekends at the Miller Place .

On Wednesday, nine volunteer firefighters delivered the television to Fred Hettesheimer's home on South Columbia Street in Port Jefferson Station.

"I'm enthused," said Hettescheimer who was once a volunteer in the between 1982 and 1983. "It's the biggest T.V. I've ever seen."

The Fire Department thanked Stop and Shop for supporting the community.
