Felony Charges Pending in Hit-And-Run Crash Injuring Sound Beach Man

A grand jury indictment against Anthony Dambrosio, of Patchogue, will be unsealed Tuesday.

A Patchogue man will be arraigned Tuesday on several felony charges related to a hit-and-run that seriously injured a Sound Beach man earlier this month.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office announced the grand jury indictment Monday against 31-year-old Anthony Dambrosio. The DA's office did not release the specific charges, but according to information posted on the New York State Unified Court System website, they include felony charges of assault: recklessly causing serious injury with a weapon, vehicular assault and leaving the scene of an accident.

Dambrosio will also face charges of driving while intoxicated and reckless driving, according to the website.

On March 4, Dambrosio’s Chevy slammed into a Newsday delivery truck being driven by Douglas Piekarski, 46, of Sound Beach. Piekarski was seriously injured in the 4:35 a.m. crash, which occurred on Montauk Highway, near Homan Avenue, in Blue Point.

Dambrosio is currently free after posting bond.

Dambrosio's brother, Michael Dambrosio, 42, of Medford, is facing charges of tampering with physical evidence and hindering prosecution related to the crash.
