UPDATE: DWI Arrest Made in Miller Place Crash

A Sound Beach man was arrested for alleged DWI at scene Tuesday morning.

Paul Corpas-Reyes, 23, of Sound Beach was the alleged drunken driver of the small sedan holding the two injured passengers in Tuesday morning's crash. Cropas-Reyes is charged with DWI, according to police.

Two passengers were seriously injured after they became trapped in their small-sized sedan in a two-car crash early Tuesday morning in Miller Place. 

The occupants were freed by the Miller Place Fire Department (MPFD) and taken to as the uninjured driver of the sedan, according to officials on scene, appeared to be under arrest. A Suffolk County Police spokesperson could not immediately confirm the arrest.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Echo Avenue and North Country Road in Miller Place at approximately 12:30 a.m. According to MPFD First Assistant Chief Kyle Markott, upon arrival he found two victims semi-conscious and both trapped in the vehicle. 

“Miller Place Fire Department companies worked quickly to free both victims,” Markott said.

The occupants of the other vehicle, an SUV, were uninjured. Chief Markott said the scene was turned over to Suffolk County Police in 45 minutes.
