Mt. Sinai Attorney Indicted for Mortgage Fraud, Arraignment Tuesday

Arrested last Summer, attorney will be arraigned in Riverhead Tuesday.

After being arrested last summer on multiple felony charges related to an ongoing mortgage fraud investigation, a Mount Sinai real estate attorney will be arraigned in Riverhead Tuesday on a grand jury indictment.

Craig Hecht, 44, of Mt. Sinai, was arrested last July and charged with first-degree falsifying business records, second-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud.

“The defendant is alleged to have schemed to obtain mortgage loan proceeds using fraudulent paperwork”, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.

Judge Mark Cohen will unseal the indictment, with calendar call set for 9:30 am.
