The , and these images were captured Monday morning as the stormwater runoff continued to fall onto the beach and into the Sound.

So swiming is off limits for two days or so, unfortunately the aquatic life in the sound doesn't have that option. I like the new "rain gardens" which are basically recharge basin's (sumps) that are open, safe and act like an interactive water feature rather than a place you can drown if you breach the chainlink fence. Retrofitting older neighborhoods in the area is the tricky and expensive. The topography is right for a rain garden at broadway beach but I don't think NSB and Brookhaven are the best of bedfellows at this time.

if sumps and water access to them were placed in right locations storm water would flow to them instead of into gutters and the large storm drain that leads to the beaches, particularly the HAGERMAN LANDING AND TIDES BEACH AREA. A NEW SUMP IN THE TOWN PRESERVE AREA WOULD HELP AND BE EASILY ACCESSED.
