Ray Negron Wins Court Appeal

Negron back on Republican Primary ballot for 2nd Council District.

A unanimous New York State Supreme Court ruling has placed Mt. Sinai resident Ray Negron (R, Mt. Sinai) back on the Sept. 13 Republican Primary Ballot for Brookhaven Town Council. 

Negron, a former prosecutor the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, petitioned to run a GOP Primary against 2nd District incumbent Brookhaven Councilwoman Jane Bonner in September.

The petition included one-thousand plus signatures to the county’s Board of Elections, but was by the Supreme Court because they were “not obtained in conformity with Election Law Section 6-132 and are invalid,” the court said.

After the ruling, Negron proceeded with a . A statement issued by Negron’s office said, “The Appelate Court ruled that the GOP offered no evidence to support their claims of fraud, and that Judge Weber had no basis for his decision.”
