Before the Storm, Rocky Point's Harvest Festival a Hit With Young Readers

Students parade as favorite literary characters.

Under particularly sunny skies as Hurricane Sandy lingered, Frank J. Carasiti Elementary School students in grades K-2 took part in the annual Harvest Day Parade, also known as the Parade of Literature.

During this parade each student, dressed as their favorite storybook character, marched around the high school track to the cheers of parents and onlookers.

Among the favorites portrayed were Harry Potter, Fern from Charlotte’s Web, Cinderella and Fancy Nancy, as well as rock stars, superheroes and other literary characters from a wide range of selections.
