Islanders Mascot Visits Rocky Point Students

Sparky the Dragon stresses the importance of healthy living to Joseph A. Edgar students.

New York Islanders mascot, Sparky the Dragon, met with students at in Rocky Point with a message about healthy living.

Joined by arena hostess Dina Tsiorvas, Sparky shared the importance of eating well, staying active and building strong bodies and minds.

“Everyone here today should exercise regularly and eat the right foods in order to grow into strong and healthy adults,” Sparky told the students.

The annual visit by the Islanders duo, normally about teamwork, stressed eating a healthy diet and exercising, in combination with making good choices.

The students were able to exercise with Sparky as he suggested students can walk the dog, dance, or ride a bike for an hour a day in order to keep active. He told the students they must stay committed in order to stay healthy.

Sparky didn't come with just a message. He also told the students that each of them will receive two free tickets to a future Islanders hockey game at Nassau Coliseum.
