Little Ones, Middle Schoolers Move On Up in Rocky Point [PHOTOS]

Highlights from moving up ceremonies in Rocky Point.

Before the high schoolers received their diplomas, the younger Rocky Point students moved on up.

Second-graders at Frank J. Carasiti Elementary took part in the school’s moving-up ceremony earlier in June as they will move on to Joseph A. Edgar School. At the end of the ceremony, each student received a blue sash symbolizing their promotion to the third grade and a dictionary from members of the Rotary Club of Rocky Point.

As their last collective activity in the school, the students joined together in song, performing “Amigos” both vocally and in sign language, as well as the traditional 'FJC Farewell Song.'

The Rocky Point Middle School Class of 2013 also took the next step in their academic journeys as they received their promotion certificates to become next year’s incoming high school freshmen.

As a testament to those accomplishments, several students were presented with more than 20 academic and character awards, including the New York State Comptroller’s Achievement Award, the Triple “C” Award, and the Presidential Outstanding Academic Achievement and Academic Excellence awards, as well as department awards.

After the last promotion certificate was distributed, the students gathered for a barbecue and yearbook-signing event on the back lawn.
