Doctor’s Day at LADSBS

Earlier this month, in honor of Doctor’s Day, LADSBS students had the opportunity to listen to Dr. Victor Tarsia talk about the responsibilities of a doctor, good daily health habits, and how to handle certain emergencies.  Dr. Tarsia displayed some medical equipment including a stethoscope used in daily practice.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss

Dr. Theodor Seuss Geisel was born March 2, 1904 and published 44 children’s books including the many bestselling books Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, and more.  He died at 87, but his books and good spirits live on. In an effort to promote literacy, and in conjunction with character day, Dr. Seuss’ birthday was celebrated by North Country Road Middle School students this month.

Entertaining mystery readers amused students every morning and a giant paper chain hanged in the main lobby representing the number of books read in March.  According to some students participating in the Read Across America Program, their favorite part of the celebration was Character Day, which gave students the chance to dress casually, wearing their favorite characters apparel.  NCRMS students then showed off picture books to kindergarten, first and second grade students in the school district.

Foreign Language Week

During the school’s recent Mystery Readers Program designed to educate and create awareness among other foreign language students, North Country Road Middle School faculty and staff assisted in educating the students during the program.  A mystery reader would read to students in the popular foreign languages—Spanish, Italian, German, French, and Portuguese.  Prizes were awarded to students throughout the week.
