For the third straight year, the Miller Place Robotics Team 514 continued its fundraising efforts with the help of the Sears Hardware Store in Port Jefferson.
After raising $705 with a raffle in 2010 and $1,645 last year after raffling a Nexgrill combination gas & charcoal grill, the club managed to raise $1,785 this year by raffling off a Craftsman 182 piece Mechanics Tool Set valued at $229.
You may have seen the team members selling raffle tickets in front of Sears during weekends in November and December, sometimes even accompanied by last year’s robot, which played basketball with Sears’ patrons. The raffle drawing was held on Dec. 20 and the winner was Doug Dickinson, uncle of first year Robotic’s team member Tyler Dickinson.
