Rocky Point Students Earn National, State Honors

Students honored for membership in Art, Business and Marketing, and Math Honor Societies.

Numerous Rocky Point students earned spots in the National Art Honor Society, New York State Business and Marketing Honor Society and the New York State Mathematics Honor Society.

45 students gained membership in the Mathematics Honor Society by maintaining an overall academic GPA and mathematics GPA of 85 percent while also successfully completing an Algebra 2/Trigonometry course, receiving two teacher recommendations. This year's NYSMHS members raised over $5,500 for a family in need with a variety show and Chinese auction.

Three students, Jaclyn Altebrando, Jason Squatriglia and Lin Yue Wang met the requirements for induction to the New York State Business and Marketing Honor Society. Seniors completed 2.5 units in business/marketing while sophomores and juniors must completed 2.0 units. The inductees also had to maintain a GPA of 88 percent or better in their business or marketing courses and an overall GPA of 80 percent or better.

For the National Art Honor Society, eight Rocky Point students met the scholarship, service and character requirements for induction. The eight students are:

  • Klaudia Remiszewska
  • Emily Effante
  • Michell Rusek
  • Cassandra Iberger
  • Brittany Schultz
