Shoreham-Wading River Budget Estimates Have District Under Tax Cap

SWR Superintendent presents first estimates for 2012-13 district budget.

Shoreham-Wading River Superintendent Steven Cohen delivered a first budget estimate for the 2012-13 school year at the district's budget workshop Wednesday night.

The budget came out to an estimated $62,363,992, a 3.98 percent increase from the current adopted budget of $59,976,799. According to the presentation, the tax levy would increase by $830,875 to $48,309,435. This comes out to a percent increase of 1.75 percent, which puts the district below the new two percent tax levy cap institued by New York State.

Breaking down the budget, employee salaries would account for just under 50 percent of the budget (49.26 percent), while employee benefits are another 25.63 percent of the budget.
