President Barack Obama wasn't just reelected to a second term on Tuesday, but he was also the popular choice for students in Laurie Varriale’s technology class at Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School.
Students cast their ballot in a mock election after studying the backgrounds and
political beliefs of both Obama and Governor Mitt Romney, using the class SMART Board to examine the candidates’ stances on education, the environment, health care, jobs and the economy, taxes and transportation.
These young voters joined students nationwide for the vote in late October, making the YLI Mock Election the largest secure student-only mock election in the nation. President Obama won the mock election with 61 percent of the votes.
