Whiz Kid: Homecoming King Kevin Osman a Scholar, Athlete and Volunteer

Miller Place senior Kevin Osman does it in and out of the classroom.

Name: Kevin Osman - Age 17

School: Miller Place High School - Senior

Accomplishments: Osman is currently ranked 12th in his senior class, with a 97.6 GPA, while taking multiple honors and AP classes throughout his high school career. The senior has been on the high honor roll for each quarter while at MPHS.

He plays the trumpet in the symphonic concert band and is a member of the National Honor Society and the Foreign Language Honor Society. Osman was selected to be a member of Athletes Helping Athletes, a program where high school athletes mentor and advise younger students about making healthy life decisions, sportsmanship and drug and alcohol prevention at the

As a member of the Varsity Club, Osman was involved in at least 25 hours of community service activities, including volunteering at food drives, concession stands and basketball games. He also volunteered for Christmas Magic, Christmas Miracle, Arts and Shoes and at Stony Brook University's FCC Chinese Celebration for the New Year.

He has earned awards for General Academic Excellence (three times), Integrated Algebra, Physical Education (three times), English Honors (twice), Spanish, Concert Band, Scholar Athlete (three times), Varsity Club, Athletes Helping Athletes and the National Honor Society Award.

Osman excels both in and out of the classroom. He is a member of the Varsity lacrosse team as a defensive mid-fielder and the Varsity football team, playing defensive back. He was team captain for JV football and Most Improved Player for JV lacrosse. Osman received the Eleventh Man Award for Varsity football, was selected for the Suffolk Zone Award for Miller Place and was nominated for the National High School Football Rudy Award Scholarship.

In October, Osman was chosen as Homecoming King for Miller Place High School.

He is currently employed at the in Miller Place and also works for Rocky Point's . He is considering majoring in mechanical engineering in college.
