Whiz Kid: National Honor Society President Kyle Streb

Name: Kyle Streb - Age 17

School: Miller Place High School - Senior

Accomplishments: Streb will have taken eight AP courses before he graduates this June and has been on the high honor roll for every quarter of his high school career, earning him the award for General Academic Excellence each year. He has also earned the Yearbook Award two years in a row, and the award for Excellence in Concert Band.  

He played the trombone in the concert band, symphonic concert band and the jazz band and was a participant in the NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) competition this past spring.

Streb has been on the Varsity winter and spring track teams each year, throwing the shot put in the winter season and both the shot put and the discus in the spring season.

The senior was inducted into the National Honor Society and the Foreign Language Honor Society. He was also a member of the Service Club for two years and the Future Business Leaders of America, which participates in charity events and competitions while helping to prepare students for careers in business and business-related fields. He has been a member of the student government and acted as treasurer for two years. He is currently the president of the National Honor Society and has been the Editor-in-Chief of the Dawning yearbook for the past two years.

Streb has enjoyed participating in the Safe Halloween program each year and is a volunteer at the Christ Church soup kitchen in Port Jefferson on Mondays. He plans to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in business finance.
