Panthers Scoreboard: Boys Lax Loses First Playoff Game

Panthers not up to task against undefeated Comsewogue.

Boys Lacrosse

In its first playoff game in team history, the Miller Place boys varsity lacrosse team faced the taunting challenge of playing undefeated Comsewogue (14-0) Saturday, and weren't up to the task in a 10-3 loss.

James Read, Ryan Callahan and Jeff Reh each scored for the Panthers and Matt Liantonio capped off a solid season in net with 12 saves. The Panthers finished the season 6-7. They were able to nab the final playoff spot despite losing the last three games of the season. This was just the second season in the history of Miller Place boys lacrosse.

Baseball

The Panthers missed out on the playoffs by one win after losing two games out of three to Easthampton over the week. The Panthers lost Game One 16-7 and Game Two 2-1 before winning the final game of the year, 3-0.

Softball

The Panthers finished the season with a win and two losses the past week. They lost, 17-13, to Easthampton Monday and 8-1 against Shoreham-Wading River on Friday.

Miller Place ended the regular season with a 10-7 win over Sayville Saturday. Jackie Gallagher earned the win on the mound.

The No.4 Panthers play Islip at home on Wednesday at 4 p.m. to begin the A bracket playoffs.

Girls Lacrosse

The varsity girls lacrosse team finished a tough seson with a forfeit victory over Southampton on May 16. The Panthers finished 6-8 in League II play, 7-9 overall.
