My husband and I are spending the summer in Rocky Point as guests in my parents home, where I grew up (graduate of RPHS). The house is on a waterfront bluff so we are enjoying the beach as much as possible. It was nice to be able to come visit; I am recovering from an accident.

Kevin and I live near Buffalo NY. Our summer began when we drove down and arrived in June. We enjoyed the beach a bit, left the pets with my parents, and flew from Islip to Vegas for 9 days. We then returned to Long Island and have been staying in RP so far. We attended a 100th birthday party for my Great Aunt Goldie, held at the North Port Yacht Club. In July, we took a quick ride back home to Buffalo, then returned in time for July 4th and watched the fireworks from our backyard. We celebrated both mine and my husband's birthday in July, and spent many days at the beach with our dog Kennedy. One day my dad and I went on a scavenger hunt through all of the towns to Montauk. Many days have been spent watching storm clouds and lightening, and we're looking forward to the meteor shower this coming weekend.

My husband received both Mets tickets and Yankees tickets in July. He took my dad to the Mets (they got rained on) and took me to Yankees (we got rained on). Yankee Stadium was beautiful...we went by train and subway and also went to Canal and saw the Freedom Tower. At Yankee Stadium, we received Yankee Certificates from guest services since they heard it was our first time in the new stadium.

We have seen deer every day on the property and on the beach and cliffs of Rocky Point, including a doe and her fawn regularly. My husband has fished and I have spent time playing on the canoe with our dog.

So far we have had a very nice summer in Rocky Point. The pictures in the album tell the story. (Click here for the full album on Facebook).

Thank you,
Rebecca Kirchner
