Patch Picks: Non-Profits Making a Difference

  • - Offering free youth and family services to residents in Miller Place, Sound Beach, Rocky Point, Mt. Sinai, Shoreham and Wading River.
  • Provides youth violence prevention and child safety education at no cost to local schools in Nassau and Suffolk. Volunteers present prevention programs dealing with the issues of bullying and cyber-bullying.
  • Events coming across Long Island where residents shave their heads to raise money for cancer. St. Baldrick's is holding an event at in Miller Place with help from , also in Miller Place, on Saturday, March. 12 at 5 p.m.
  • - If you know a woman currently undergoing chemo therapy, spread the word about Cleaning For A Reason, a non-profit that works with local cleaning services (including Teresa's Family Cleaning in Rocky Point) to provide free house cleaning once a month for women undergoing cancer treatment.
  • Miller Place Civic Association - Founded in 1972, the Civic Association works with members of the community for the beautification, promotion and enhancement of Miller Place, with a history of charitable events through various organizations.
