The Week Ahead: Networking Dinner, Blood Drive and More

Take a look at what's happening this week in the area.

Welcome to another Monday. As you begin your week, here's a look at what lies ahead in the Miller Place-Rocky Point area:

- Though a slight chance of thunderstorms is expected Monday afternoon, the rest of the week is expected to be sunny, according to the National Weather Service

- Businesspeople, head out for a night of networking on Monday night, as the Northern Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce is holding a buffet dinner catered by Land & Sea of Mt. Sinai. Cost is $22.

- Minecraft fans, Brookhaven National Lab is holding a Minecraft dojo this week, Monday through Wednesday, giving teams the chance to solve challenges together. Kicks off at 6:30 p.m., and is open for ages 8 - 12.

- Enter a chance to head to the Super Bowl – don't forget, it's at MetLife Stadium this year – at a blood drive sponsored by St. Louis de Montfort Church in Sound Beach, taking place from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

- Trying to get ready for PSAT, SAT or ACT? The Knox School in St. James is hosting Dr. Ira Wolf – a former college professor and author of How to Prepare for the SAT – who will speak at 7 p.m. on Wednesday for a free lecture, followed by a question-and-answer session.
